Summer 2022 Fredericton Botanic Garden Artist in Residence Collection “New Growth”

Alison Veino is interested in the process of decay, transformation, and metamorphosis. Her current body of work brings together instinctive, fluid compositions while revealing her precise textural details upon further observation. Alison's paintings bring alive the fundamental quest to express something personal, subjective and emotive visually in an intuitive, abstract way.

Selected as 1 of the 5 artists during the summer of 2022 artist in residence at the Fredericton Botanic Garden. The timing of her experience as The Artist in Residence was from August 22nd- September 2nd, 2022. It was the perfect timing to capture the fleeting moment in time. That final "New Growth" burst of colours gifted to us from mother nature through the personality of flowers, streams, trees, animals, and insects. Meaningful experiences from the visits of foxes, dragonflies, and bees. Expressing that feeling emotively when you know the season of change is coming. When you know you are being pushed to give your brightest new growth self to the world new growth Alison expresses that visually.

Just like in life, there is constant change with ebbs and flows. The beauty of the brief moment in time before the petals fall to nature's floor, go back to the earth before another year passes and they come alive again. Have you ever felt that deep-rooted push that is about to explode from within the depths of your one-of-a-kind unique soul? Have you felt that discomfort but know that you have to experience the falling of a petal before you have a big burst of magic in the flow of your life? Are you pushing enough? Taking chances? Then maybe this is the collection for you!

The beauty of flowers to me is the awareness that, like life, it is fleeting. Therefore, we must appreciate the delicate beauty of each unique petal or moment in time we can enjoy. It's a gift of existence to our senses.
